Barrel House “Black” Oatmeal 6.0% ABV

Jorge: Beer Advocate promises fruity, lactose, chocolate. The can sure doesn’t tell you. Balanced. VERY GOOD.

Bob: Ooh. Another black stout can. What is floating in my beer? I will soldier on because that’s what heroes do. Light, Reminds me of Lefthand. Really good. On the warmer side. EXCELLENT, in fact.

Booze Brothers “Black Sunshine” American 7.5% ABV 40 IBU

Bob: It’s a Skelesun. Gluten light. Good can art. I dig the poem but can you tell me what’s in the thing? Untappd says chocolate, barley, oats, espresso. Not as bitter as I had feared. Probably better cold. Delivers as promised. VERY GOOD

Jorge: Getting bitter, but not chocolate per se. GOOD

Dunloe “Breakfast in Hell” Coffee 7.4% ABV 24 IBU

Jorge: Once again, zero information on the can. Brewver says coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. VERY GOOD

Bob: Cool can art. Demon family represent! Shout out Bryan Raymond! Shout out Davis! Comes in waves. Interesting. What’s the middle wave, exactly? FAIR/GOOD Too much sweet?

Ghost Town “Dejected” Imperial 11% ABV

Jorge: That’s a sad baby angel. Scales of…? Smells sweet. Boozier and sweeter. Tasty! Got to share it with the ABV. VERY GOOD.

Bob: Is that a flying rat? Grave stones. Very depressing. Very light. Who knew there were so many beers named, “Dejected”? Caramel, sea salt, lactose. Comes in waves. Very cool., but I don’t really enjoy it. FAIR/GOOD. Let it be known that Mrs. Oseguera rocks.

818 Brewing, “Black Cat Moan” Imperial 11.3% ABV 67 IBU

Jorge: Prince would appreciate the can art. Beer Advocate, whoo whoo. Because -ONCE AGAIN- there is NOT INFORMATION ON THE CAN!!! Bigger bubbles. Pretty boozy. Bitter aftertaste.

Bob: I’m expecting bitter. Rosy head. Is there a pleasant aftertaste? What if the aftertaste is the taste of the beer? Bitter. Angry. It sure reminds me of cats in heat and that’s not good. FAIR.

Bay City Brewing “Witching Hour” Imperial 13% ABV

Bob: Great name. Let’s try some info on the can! Aged 18 months Cream colored can. Little Art Deco. Cacao, candied pecans, vanillas. Sweet, syrupy, a little too much heat. VERY GOOD

Jorge: Sweet. No aftertaste. Did I give this to you for your first 50th birthday party? Bottled in 2020. I like the balance. VERY GOOD.
