Episode 67: The Easter Bunny Hid The Lost Tower Episode.

Brewer Ian Churchill and fellow brewer/BjCP judge, Peter Wisham were kind enough to host us and we repaid that generosity by losing the tape…urrrr….the Easter Bunny hid the tape and then delivered it with some Britney Spears clips. Click HERE for the podcast and Britney’s debut as we continue to expand our pop culture library

Tower “Lost Souls” Oatmeal Mocha Oatmeal 5.5% abv

Peter: Sometimes the cacao nibs get lost, but not here. VERY GOOD/EXCELLENT. I like the coffee punch. A little more chocolate would be nice.

Bob: This is a collaboration with Old Soul Coffee in Sacramento and the previous man-bun savants who used to brew for Tower and hosted us for Episode 27. The coffee sure comes through, maybe a little too much. Still, VERY GOOD/EXCELLENT

Ian: Cheers to Killian McMahon for the can art. Not sure how much vanilla I’m getting. VERY GOOD/EXCELLENT

Burning Barrel “Golden Daydreams” Golden Stout 7% abv

Ian: I kinda like/kinda hate this category of beer. I’m supposed to shake the can? No roast here. Not a stout. Tastes GOOD though.

Peter: Any brewer who attempts this should be applauded for effort at least. It is possible to recreate malts with no malts. This doesn’t do it. GOOD

Bob: Do not drop acid and look at this label. Why is it orange? Promises breakfast dessert.or a beverage. Super creamy. Sweet. Chocolate. Tastes great. It’s not a stout so GOOD for a stout. EXCELLENT for a beverage

Hi-Wire (Three Ring) Brewing 10W-40 “Horchata” Imperial 8% abv

Bob: Promises vanilla, almonds, Cinnamon, Chocolate…wait. Almonds? GOOD/VERY GOOD

Ian: VERY GOOD

Peter: First one I’ve heard of trying almonds. VERY GOOD

Perennial Artisan Ales ”Imperial Artisan w/ Dark Matter Coffee” Coffee 11% abv

Bob: As for the can details, thanks for nothing. The taste is EXCELLENT, but where’s the coffee?

Peter: Delivers as promised. Could be a little more roasty and a little less sweet. GOOD/VERY GOOD.

Ian: GOOD/VERY GOOD for me personally vs. me the brewer.

Tower“Not That Innocent” Imperial 9.8%

Bob: This works better if you don’t try to literally inhale it. GOOD/VERY GOOD. Aftertaste is a little much.

Peter: This is my go-to. VERY GOOD/EXCELLENT.

ian: Dark, sweet, what you would expect from an Imperial. And, Britney rules.

Short Throw Brewing “Lo Brau Nobility” Imperial 12% abv

Bob: Lots of maple. Waves of flavor. This is cool. Milk aftertaste is a little weird? VERYGOOD Not my jam.

Ian: Looking for coconut and cinnamon and it delivers. I would buy this as a non-stout-drinker EXCELLENT

Peter: Very complex. EXCELLENT. Great flavors.

Timber Ales “Chasing Darkness” Barrel-aged Imperial 12% abv

Bob: The can art makes me want to run away…or should I run toward the light? Cassia cinnamon means it’s a good time? VERY GOOD

Ian: Bark and wood dust in beer is a thing. VERY GOOD. This is a good one to share.

Peter: Too much cinnamon. I think it’s a dessert. Would be great with ice cream. GOOD/VERY GOOD
