Episode 64: Ignore The First 90 Seconds. We Dare You.
IT shenanigans and the Pittsburgh Steelers start us off in this online session with Chris Knapp, Glenn Crim, and Bob Moffitt. If you get past that, you get olive belches, mold, a lot of 80’s music samples, K-Pop, and a can art argument. How could you not be riveted? There is some beer tasting in there too, we promise. Chris: Date on the bottom means it’s been in a fridge for awhile. Olives in the fronnnnnt. Olives in the baaaaack. The Nicorette of the stout world. FAIR
Bob: Super thin. Needs body. Taste is a suitable substitute for a stout with alcohol in it. FAIR/GOOD for a beverage. None of us are pronouncing it right. Think
Brad” and then add a “vuss.”
Glenn: I don’t think it has to be thin to be non-alcoholic. I’m getting better at judging non-alcoholic beers for what they are, not for what they are not. FAIR for the taste. POOR for the olive-flavored belch.
LEFT HAND “Dry Irish Nitro Stout” 4.3% abv
Bob: “Subfoam.” I am trademarking it. Probably don’t need all of the OSHA warnings on the can. It is a GOOD beer, but I am not getting the flavors.
Chris: Great flavor. EXCELLENT. Got the coffee, not the graham cracker. My use of the term “buzz” is to denote tingling, not intoxication.
Glenn: Excellent. Looks great. Tastes great. No aftertaste
FIRESTONE “Mocha Dolce Nitro” 6% abv 35 IBUs
Bob: Me español is muy malo. Promises coffee, vanilla, and cocoa. Good taste. Bad aftertaste. GOOD. Could be amazing if not for the aftertaste troll rolling around on my tongue.
Chris: Dessert. Too sweet. Too much aftertaste. GOOD.
Glenn: Big flavor with cocoa and coffee GOOD, but the aftertaste is off-putting
LEFT HAND “Galactic Cowboy“ Imperial 9% abv 44 IBUs
Bob: Stammer. What? Confused. Bitter coffee and bitter chocolate? FAIR/GOOD Not my jam.
Chris: Wow bitter. Too much. FAIR
Glenn: No. Too bitter. They delivered what they promised. FAIR
Kern River Brewing Company “Igor Unchained” Russian Imperial 15% abv
Bob: (Ee gohr) is super dark. Promises sugar. Smells great, like maple. Booze. Definitely better warmer. VERY GOOD
Chris: To be consumed in a five-day period. Woooo.. VERY GOOD
Glenn: It’s (eye-gohr) As Squier might say, “Ending is the night…” The layers are cool. I like the vanilla. Delivers what is promises. EXCELLENT
