Episode 61: Five Years Was A Lot More Fun Than It Looks Like We’re Having Right Now
Normally, we would get all fancy and list the 10 beers we reviewed, but not today. It’s down and dirty. It’s our day and no amount of technological crapfesting is going to ruin our day. Jackrabbit “Off Campus Donuts” Imperial Pastry 13% abv
Bob: I get the raspberries. Where are the cacao and vanilla. GOOD Not in my taste wheelhouse.
Knapp: Why is it chunky? It’s okay. GOOD
Glenn: Sneaky boozy. I get the cacao late. VERY GOOD.
Alvarado Street “Crepcuscular Creatures” Imperial Pastry 12.9% abv
Jorge: Promises chocolate and sweetness and it delivers VERY GOOD
Modern Times “Black House” Oatmeal Coffee 5.8% abv 30 IBU
Joey: Ben is my favorite co-host. Is “very, very, triple awesome good” still on the ratings scale? Tastes like coffee GOOD/VERY GOOD
David: Modern Times has its own coffee roaster and is now under Maui Brewing.
Walking Man “Cherry” Cherry Oatmeal 7.2% abv
Glenn: I get coffee and chocolate. I cannot find the cherry. GOOD for taste.
New Helvetia “Malty Balls” Amerian 6.7% abv
David: Shoutout Beth Ruyak. Flavors are subtle. We will take another crack at it.
Bob: Let me bore you to death with many, many stories
Hubbard’s Cave “French Toast” Pastry 12% abv
Bob: As bad as the beer can art is, the beer is equally good. EXCELLENT cold. Gets a little cinnamony as it warms.
Coopers “Best Extra” Foreign 6.3%
Knapp: Bottle-aged. It has a “best after” date. VERY GOOD. Light. Tastes like Guinness.
Bob: It is definitely a foreign. Fruit and chocolate. Not my favorite style.
LogOff “Decadent AF” Imperial 12% abv
David: Wish I could share. Ton of vanilla. Chocolatey. Impressive. VERY GOOD
Off Color Brewing “Dino’smores” Imperial 10.5% abv 40 IBU
Jorge: balanced. A little bitter. GOOD. A little disappointing. Not getting the marshmallow.
