The Beer Gods Make Themselves Heard…and Matt’s Wrong.

Communicating through the chimes in the backyard, the Beer Gods have spoken, and let it be known they are firmly on Bob’s side when it comes to the Stoutcast grading scale. Quantity that can be consumed is not a factor. On a windy, cold (40 degrees!) Central California night, Matt and Bob enjoy a really interesting, really noisy flight. Please excuse the thumps of Mother Nature and the Gauthier family wolf hounds as we celebrate some great beer. While we’re at it, let’s wish the man a happy 58th birthday, even if he is wrong. Blue Note “Lucille” Oatmeal 5.5% abv

Bob: Don’t look for increased gluten here. Tremendous jazz beer art. Fantastic flavor. EXCELLENT with no question. Early candidate for beer of the year.

Matt: I don’t know squat about jazz musicians. Balanced. Kind of one note. Not too sweet. Nothing wrong with it. EXCELLENT.

Mikkeller “Beer Geek Breakfast” Oatmeal 7.5 % abv

Bob: Weiner shirt is interesting. Dark Horse Coffee promised. Caramunich malts. VERY GOOD. Too much barley.

Matt: Nice and malty. VERY GOOD. Super deep brown and dense.

Left Hand Brewing “Bittersweet” Imperial 8.9%

Bob: Ahhhh. The old 13.65 fluid oz bottle. Classic. Not getting the dark chocolate. Sweet up front. Bitter in the rear. GOOD.

Matt: Crimson glow. Indonesian and Ethiopian beans make this delicious. Color and flavor put it right in between the first two. Not too boozy. Balanced. VERY GOOD

Evil Twin Brewing “90 Days Dry Aged” 9.0% abv

Bob: With the lack of intel on the label, it should taste like orange cow and frankfurters. Taste is OK Aftertaste is OK. GOOD overall. Beer Gods agree.

Matt: Steak stout should be a thing. Lot of booze up front. Please let something balance this. Flavors save it in the back end. GOOD.

Revision “Batch FOURK2020” Imperial 13%

Bob: Here’s to you, Dan Armolea, Cory Alan Forgue and Sparks, NV. The label is not in my color wheel, but it does have information on it, so kudos! Coconut, cacao nibs, Madagascar Vanilla Beans. Smells incredible. Amazingly smooth. You have to share this. EXCELLENT. Quality over quantity. This isn’t the Miller Lite Podcast. And yes, I did begin the podcast with one shoe. Why do you ask?

Matt: Maybe the best high-octane fuel I have ever had. Balanced, dense, dark, fantastic. VERY GOOD. It is fantastic, but it’s too heavy.
