Episode 24: Sac Beer Week At Mraz Brewing

Everyone has an anniversary of something. It just so happens Mike Mraz, Dan Scott, and Bob Moffitt of Mraz Brewing, Sacramento Beer Week and the Stoutcast podcast respectively all share the same date. So happy 6th, 10th and 1st to us! Click HERE for the PODCAST!

Mraz Creatures of the Night American Stout 7% abv

Dan: Great straightforward stout. Rare to find a refreshing throwback like this: Roasty. Definitely EXCELLENT

Bob: This is where stouts start. So simple it’s beautiful. Really drinkable. EXCELLENT

Mike: Went for balance, not too sweet, not too bitter. Little more alcohol than a dry Irish.

Mraz Tear In My Suit w/ Fifty Fifty Brewing Imperial Pastry 11.5% abv

Bob: Comes in waves, but then goes down a bitter rabbit hole. GOOD/VERY GOOD. More of a coffee stout, but it’s very cool.

Dan: GOOD. Pastry stouts are not my thing. Would expect a little creamier. More coffee than pastry

Mike: Little milk, vanilla, little chocolate, little espresso, lot of imperial. Maybe a little lactose would improve it.

Mraz American Barrel-aged Imperial Stout 14% abv

Mike: Wanted a really big American stout. No Russian collusion. Been in Dry Diggings Distillery barrels for a year. I’m really excited by how this is aging.

Dan: Smells beautiful. Bourbon, roast and sweetness. I can’t drink it. I’m absorbing it through my pores. Really strong flavor. Put this next to the very best. EXCELLENT.

Bob: Creamier than expected. Hits you. Little sweet and boozy at the end. VERY GOOD/EXCELLENT
